Quality Assurance Technician

This position is at our Alco Spring location and has been manufacturing quality hot wound coiled steel springs for rail and other industrial customers worldwide since 1908. Our springs range in size from less than a pound to more than 2,000 pounds and provide stability and precision for customers in the energy, mining, automotive, heavy equipment, and other markets. Our engineers can custom-design special springs that enable customers to expand the capabilities of their equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Enter daily operator dimension logs per operation into master log, maintain, and identify any abnormalities or opportunities for improvement.
  • Final approval of material certificates upon receiving of raw steel material.
  • Calibration of gages and equipment; maintain records and schedule, execute in- house calibration, and lead out-source calibration needs.
  • Maintain records of all in-process inspections/manufacturing lot shop sheet, including furnace temperatures.
  • Inspect purchased material for conformance to specifications (Purchased springs, coatings, etc.).
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and log information into quality database.
  • Support all quality audits, including ISO, AAR, or Customer. (If needed).
  • Keeps measurement equipment in good working condition.

Skills/Experience Requirements:
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or forging environment of steel preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
  • Experience and able to read calipers, measuring tapes and rulers.

Open Schedule:
  • 1st shift: Monday – Friday.

Pay: $17 per hour
